1. girls name -currently 102nd most popular name in the US 2. a fossilised resin 3. an attractive -sometimes seen as provocative- but mainly meant to be a pretty girl 4. for all those people -usually girls- who don’t fit into usual groups like punk, emo, goth etc, generally different but in a good way (third definition of ‘Amber’ on Urban dictionary)
As dissapointing as it may be, you are not miraculously reading a blog written by a pretty golden rock. You are, however, reading a blog by a girl who shares a name with porn stars, is decently attractive, and most definately does not fit in.
What does one do with a name like Amber? Well, if you have any reservation about taking off your clothes in public, you don’t have many choices. So you do the next best thing. You become a poet.
Or at least try to. I am currently 21 years old and recently graduated from Regis University with a double major in English and Religious Studies. I’ve been published in numerous journals both in print and online, and have read for several slams and open mics and am constantly surprised by how many people actually read my work. I even have a full collection out, can you imagine that?
Which is what this blog is for. I’m going to be putting down some samples of my writing, poems that have been published, chronicling my process of being published and getting/giving advice to you- my readers. Maybe I’ll throw in a couple of poems from my favorite poets, canon and current. Maybe I’ll toss in a couple of inspirational quotes and awesome pictures. Who knows? I’m (still) new to this whole blogging thing.
